The Greenpop Reforest Fest is an annual reforestation festival that brings people together to plant thousands of trees, while enjoying a celebration like no other. Join them for a weekend of fun for all ages, from 7 – 10 April 2023, at Bodhi Khaya Nature Retreat. 

Greenpop was founded in 2010 by Misha and Lauren Teasdale who had a mission to plant 1000 trees in one month. Fast forward, and Greenpop is now a social enterprise on a mission to (re)connect people with the planet. Greenpop has since planted 200,000 indigenous and fruit trees at schools and other urban sites, community farms as well as forests across South Africa, Zambia, Malawi and Tanzania. They work to restore ecosystems and empower environmental stewards through forest restoration, urban greening, food gardening and activating people through green workshops and events.

More than the number of trees, Greenpop is inspired by the hands that have helped to plant the trees and the further thousands that have joined Greenpopʼs eco-education programmes and made a commitment to be custodians of our beautiful planet.

Reforest Fest is  a festival for everyone, and whether you celebrate Easter or not, there is much to be grateful for over this long weekend. Help restore degraded land; get involved in various wellness-based activities, and attend workshops, talks & classes from eco experts. Celebrate under the stars with local live music & DJ’s, go gin and wine tasting, and delight in the wholesome food village. Enjoy extensive hiking trails, take a walk through Africa’s southernmost indigenous forest, to an ancient milkwood tree, or enjoy the symphony of nature’s sounds, overlooking a serene dam.

The kids will also be kept happy and entertained at the designated kids’ entertainment area. The little ones can enjoy puppet shows, arts and crafts, lantern making, and even learn how to make seed bombs.

The stunning surrounds of Bodhi Khaya Nature Retreat welcome explorers to its milkwood forests and fynbos trails, in addition to beautiful on-site accommodation. New this year is Greenpop’s exciting Tented Village, featuring luxury-fitted bell tents and pre-erected Kartents – fully-equipped 2-person cardboard tents, to suit all budgets and preferences.
