WELCOME TO ANOTHER EDITION OF RESPONSIBLE TRAVELLER.
Yay, for the increase in international travel arrivals, and for the increase in confidence in the tourism industry with the resumption of several travel trade shows this year – WTM Africa in Cape town in April, Tourism Indaba in Durban in May and MKTE in Kenya in October, amongst many others globally. As we head into the new year we most certainly look to the future with much positivity and enthusiasm!!
In this edition we explore beyond South Africa’s borders into Botswana and Zimbabwe as we road trip part of the region, and in Kenya we search out the Samburu Special Five on safari and visit a Samburu community. We enjoy mountain magic in the Maloti Drakensberg as we travel through KZN into Lesotho and the Free State and appreciate conservation and community at mFulaWozi Wilderness in Zululand, amongst several other travel stories.
And if that’s not enough, there are plenty conservation and community success stories to inspire as well as interesting people to ‘meet’…
But as always, the responsibility of being a responsible traveller lies ultimately with the person travelling and the choices they make. Remember to stay, shop, experience and eat local and to search for the off the beaten track experiences – many small businesses are depending on you. This all goes a long way in helping to provide employment, contributing to the local economy, and making a difference in people’s lives.
Enjoy the read… and be the difference.
