It has been such a pleasure putting this mammoth edition of Responsible Traveller together – all 165 pages of it, and choc-a-block full of fabulous responsible tourism stories.

We start in the Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Park, where we visit Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe with Africa’s Eden – and show that tourism in the region really is ready to host travellers, post Covid-19 lockdowns. We explore Azura Benguerra Island and get the low-down of their community projects, and continue our exploration in Limpopo with a visit to Hoedspruit, a stay at the beautiful Bushwillow Private Villa and then some foodie and people stories from Baobab Ridge and the luxurious Thornybush Saseka Tented Camp. And in the Western Cape we head up the West Coast to explore nature’s splendour with the spring flower display with West Coast Way.

We chat to Chris Godenir, GM of The Peninsula All-Suit Hotel, which is part of Dream Hotels & Resorts, to Tracey Bolton, the new Director of Sales and Marketing for Banyon Tree Ilha Caldeira (a stunning private island off the Mozambique coast that is opening in 2022), and hear the great history of The Cavern in the KZN Drakensberg, which celebrates its 80th birthday this year. Floricius, the viticulturist of Groot Constantia, shares about his love of the soil and the difference it makes to wine-making, and we celebrate the conservation success of a leopard released at Finfoot Lake Reserve in Rustenberg, and heart-warming community stories with Uthando SA in Cape Town.

Enjoy the read, and as always, be the difference.
